Our Pomeranians
Browdeen Kennels is proud to say that we have been breeding pomeranians since 1989.
Our kennel is situated on a 8ha smallholding situated in Vereeniging,
Vaal Triangle, South Africa, and is owned by myself Corrie Brown, daughter Erica and our spouses Chris and Schalk. After living on the East Rand for many years we exchanged the city life for country side living, the right environment for our pets.
We are registered with KUSA and our dogs comply to the KUSA breeding and show standard.
(Please note that the new trend of "miniature pomeranians" is well below the breed standard, although our females do produce small puppies we will never compromise on the composure and confirmation of our dogs to try and breed miniatures. We have too often seen miniature puppies bred by other breeders that have bad patella, heart problems etc. We even read that they claim or tell the buyers that these miniatures will have a lifespan of 2-5 years where healthy poms grow much older than that, so it speaks for itself. Therefore we breed according to show quality
standards. Our puppies weight in the region of 2-3 kg when they are fully gown)
We recently imported two parti coloured poms from the USA and am proud to say that they are currently the only two parti poms in South Africa. We aim to start a breeding program with these lovely dogs, but as they are still babies this will not be soon. The offspring will be sold with breeding restrictions or terms. Most breeders are used to the orange, white or cream pomeranians. In other countries the parti coloured poms are very popular.
Our pomeranians and ridgeback are reared with lots of love and affection. By the time they are ready to go to good homes, they are well socialized and ready to adapt to their new owners.
Pups are ready to be placed at 6-7 weeks.
Those who are not familiar with the Pomeranian breed should please note that the poms go through "The UGLY stage" at 3 months and then loose hair until they grow into their adult coat. During that stage they might even look like a cross bred dog, it is normal. Buy yourself a
good book on Pomeranians and read about it.

Our Rhodesian Ridgebacks
We have two ridgeback females Sasha and Scrumba.
Our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppies are bottle reared from birth. We assist the females in feeding, as the litters are big and we feel it is necessary to make sure the babies get extra calcium and nutrition at an early stage. Our puppies are used to being handled from birth. We monitor them closely and as they start developing their personalities we try to place them with owners that want specific qualities such as teachability, allertness, good with children etc. We play with our pups 3 times a day when we feed them to get them socialized.
We only breed each female once per year and each litter needs to be
planned. When our females give birth we stand by to assist. They sometimes go into labour for 16 hours if they have 10-12 puppies. It entails hard work and effort that is rewarded by the love they give in return, so each time one leaves the "DEN" we shed a tear. Those who own a ridgeback know what a remarkable breed it is. Once a ridgeback never another breed.
Our two females have been hd and ed tested and approved by
Onderstepoort, therefore we are able to register the offspring.
We take pride in our kennel and the fact that we aim to produce show quality puppies. We do all we humanly can to ensure that our puppies are well nutritioned and healthy.
Pups are inoculated & dewormed. Micro chipping is done at an additional cost.
We love animals and that makes our hobby, our passion in life!
