Caesar the Spaniel

by Chantal de Villiers of Johannesburg

I have always been an animal lover. We have three dogs, two of which we adopted, and two cats which we also adopted, each with their own stories to tell. One was very dear to our hearts - Horace who was also a golden cocker. He unfortunately passed away last year December at the age of 16.5 yrs. Caesar however is the one that always gets to peoples hearts - must be the silly things he does.

We got him when he was 6 weeks old and have never looked back. He is an angel in every way. He thinks he is a human and I get told all the time to stop treating him like a child, but he will always be my life. We do everything together. He swims with Hans my boyfriend. Bath, eat, drink, sleep and play he does with me. He sat for me on the passengers side of my car with the seatbelt on as if to show me he can do it if he wants too.

We have many nick names for him, but he likes these the most: Totie, Lovebug, Fuzzy face, Nekenpoop. We only call him Caesar when he is naughty. I tell you, you can get away with about anything with Caesar.

Caesar was born on the 01/01/2003 which makes him a new years baby, believe when I say he is always trying something new.

I must admit Caesar is not just my life but my best friend. He always knows how to cuddle me when I am sad, he licks my tears when I cry. He puts me at ease when I am angry and is the only one in the house that can wake me up in the mornings with out me being in a bad mood.

I want the whole world to know that I have also got a precious gem in my life and I will hunt down and hurt anyone that harms a hair on his head.

Editor's note:

I'm impressed with the intense love this woman has for her dog! She wants her dog with her all the time - even in the bath! I think God loves us like that! He longs for us to respond to him!
