Our Pomeranians are whelped and raised under foot - due to them being so small and delicate they only leave for new homes from 8 weeks on (pups that are especially small might need to stay with us a little longer). First and foremost, we breed for ourselves - we breed to improve our breed and show them. Occasionally there are puppies available. SOME POMERANIAN HISTORYMost dog historians are of the opinion that the Pomeranian was developed from a northern type of dog, such as can still be seen in Iceland and Lapland. Being used to haul sleds over snowy wastes. The Pomeranian still retains the hardy disposition and thick coat so typical of dogs in these cold climates, despite its small size. The Pomeranian, to many people, is a small spitz. The whole spitz group is traceable to the dogs in Iceland and Lapland. Whether these dogs all had a common ancestor or not is not known. The heartland of German dog development, Wurttemberg, is considered by some as the place where the Spitz was transformed into the Pomeranian. Some believe that the Pomeranian was first developed in Pomerania. The first Pomeranian weighed approximately 30 pounds. The colours were mostly white, cream or black. In the dog world Queen Victoria is credited with the Pomeranians peak in popularity in England.
SOME POMERANIAN TIPSWORMING: Please ask your vet for advice on future worming and products to use. I recommend once you receive you puppy that you have him/her wormed again at 12 weeks and then every 3 to 6 months there after. IMMUNISATION: Your Pomeranian puppy has been/should have been vaccinated and you will be given a vaccination card signed by the veterinarian. Please present this card to your veterinarian when you take you puppy for a check-up. GROOMING: Puppies should be groomed from an early age so they learn to welcome the attention. The Pomeranian does require regular grooming, at least 2 or 3 times a week if not daily. When you stroke or pat your Pomeranian stroke the coat from the tail to the head as this will raise the coat. Teach your baby from a young age to accept and enjoy being groomed. When bathing your puppy it is recommended you use a shampoo formulated for dogs. A tearless puppy shampoo is the best to use. Trimming of hair around the anus for cleanliness is recommended. Toe nails should be kept as short as
possible. Please ensure that you watch out for
the quick when cutting the nails - cutting into this would cause your Pom
discomfort/pain - if you are unsure of how to do it ask you vet to assist at
your next visit Water: MUST be available at all times. DESEXING: Your Pomeranian pet puppy should be desexed at approximately 6 months of age. At the same time I also recommend you ask your veterinarian to remove any retained baby teeth. The legal stuffPuppies occasionally available from us will... 4) All puppies will be microchipped.
