As a child I dreamt of owning a Dobermann – I was brought up in England with Jack Russells, Border Collies and Greyhounds . I longed for the black and tan, regal and aloof dog that I had seen in the movies.  My grand illusion was shattered with the arrival of Toby the Doby in 1998 – a big brown Dobe with a wonderful sense of humour, complete clown and a fearsome bark that belied his gentlemanly ways.  His good looks were spotted by a local judge, and “Hysand Viceroy” was soon made up to Champion in breed shows around the country and reached the top 25 all breed dogs in South Africa.

Toby was the foundation of Haverhill Dobermanns – thanks to Hymie Leibman (Hysand Dobermanns) I was given two beautiful bitches by imported USA CH Cara’s Skeeter of Hysand and in 2003 I bred my first litter of 5 puppies.  Since then I have continued to enjoy showing my dogs, helping new owners get the best from their puppies and competing in various working disciplines.

Haverhill is a wonderful farm property inland of Durban, with 8 acres for my 4 Dobes to run freely around. I breed my bitches very selectively once a year, and take great pride in ensuring that the puppies are kept in the best possible environment for their health, and their physical and mental development. I even set up a jungle gym in their run so that they learn co-ordination and balance before leaving Haverhill. 

I have also gone to some trouble to ensure the genetic soundness of the puppies from a temperament and health perspective.  The parents are HD clear, vW clear and also have show and working qualifications. Many of my puppies have received Champion Status and compete in obedience – in 2010 one of my puppies was awarded Zimbabwe Dog of the Year and Zimbabwe Reserve Obedience Dog of the Year.

The legal stuff

·       Puppies are available from 8 weeks onwards to approved homes – questionnaire to be completed by prospective buyers

·       Puppies are fully inoculated , de-wormed and temperament tested

·      They are sold KUSA registered (I will send the papers to buyers as soon as I receive them from KUSA)

·         Breeder’s restriction will apply

·         Puppies will be micro-chipped

·         An agreement of sale will be entered into (available for inspection before any deposit is paid)

·         References/testimonials available upon request
