ABOUT OUR KENNEL: We have been breeding German Shepherd
Dogs since the early 1990's. We are a relatively small kennel and
believe in breeding quality as opposed to quantity having a limited number of
litters per year. Temperament is very important to us and we strive
for a good balance between breed and working abilities. As evidence of our success we
can proudly claim to be the first kennel in the Western Cape to bring home the
Youth Siegerin Trophy and to breed a bitch to be judged VA. We
were also the first local kennel to breed a bitch which ran first in the show
ring and qualified at the International Schutzhund Championships held overseas.
I think we have every reason to be proud of our achievements in the breeding
field. Our foundation bitch 'MAJUTA WISPER' produced the first Western Cape VA in 'DELIA OF RYDENE' (Bobby Aus Agrigento). 'DELIA' gave us 'ODETTE OF RYDENE' (Xavier von der Kahle Heide) who although not running a VA did very well in the show ring and gave us 'YOGI OF RYDENE' (Aiko v/d Weidenstrasse) who ran VA2 at the Federations National Show in 2006. This shows the continuity of strength and balance in our lines and in our opinion is what the German Shepherd Dog should be. YOGI's sire, AIKO VON DER WEIDENSTRASSE, was the first son of twice world champion URSUS VON BATU to stand at stud in South Africa and we were very fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to purchase him. He was with us from the age of 2 years and stamped his progeny with his class which they in turn are passing on. Sadly he died in 2009 at the age of 12 years. We have had progeny from both ODETTE and YOGI to the GSD Federation's 2008 & 2009 VA1, THOMSEBO NIMBUS, and are very pleased with the results. ODIN OF RYDENE and ORA OF
RYDENE, a son and daughter of the NIMBUS/YOGI mating did very well at the GSD
Federation's National show in 2010. ODIN took the Vice-Youth Sieger
trophy (18-24 month males) and ORA placed 9th out of 35 bitches in the 18-24
month bitch class. On the strength of this showing there has
been much interest in using ODIN as a Stud dog and his progeny is looking very
promising. At the 2012 GSD Federation's National show in April 2012
he was judged VA7 by a top German SV judge, Herr Rudiger Mai. We
were thrilled as the dogs placed in front of him were imported German dogs.
Puppies are sometimes available to approved homes. THOMSEBO NIMBUS and ODIN OF RYDENE are available for stud duties to approved bitches. The legal stuff Our puppies are registered with GDFSA. We give the buyer a registration certificate. There are breeding restrictions.
