History
The Siberian has it all! The Siberian - also
known as Siberian Forest Cats - arrived in South Africa in 2000, all the
way from Russia (with love),
The difference with Siberian cats is, they are
known to have hypoallergenic tendencies, so, if you, or a family member,
have allergies that prevent you from having cats, you could consider
owning a Siberian. Many allergy sufferers are loving owners to this
magnificent breed.
The Siberian is considered a natural Russian
breed, that has very little known health problems. Known to be an
exceptionally agile jumper, the Siberian is a strong and powerfully built
cat, with strong hind quarters and a well muscled and compact body. They
have a medium to long coat which in winter is water repellant and dense.
The Siberian has some wonderful traits that make
them ideal household pets. They are healthy, hardy and possess a dog-like
loyalty to their two legged owners. Siberians have a problem solving
intelligence level, but never seem to outgrow the playful kitten stage. It
takes them 5 years to fully grow up into magnificent adults. Siberians get
along well with children, dogs and other pets and literally greet you at
the door with an unusual "talking" voice of chirps and chirrups,
especially when content and, you will never have a cold lap with a
Siberian in the house.
Siberians, being a natural breed, come in a
rainbow of all cat colours including, occasionally, colourpoint, which is
also known as Neva Masquerade. |
