Cats - Turkish Van
Turkish van cats are named after Lake Van, in Turkey.
(Eastern Anatolia) The name goes back to 1950, but there were cats in Turkey
before folk began to concentrate on producing a breed that had a name.
Turkish vans have white coats with coloured markings
only on head and bushy tail.
If other breeds of cats present with this colour
combination, they are called "van patterned."
Turkish Vans are affectionately known as swimming cats, due
to their affection for the water! They are feisty cats with lots of love to
give, especially in the form of constant head butting! They are much like dogs -
their favourite game is "fetch", they seem to never tire of this game
as they bring their favourite toy to you over and over again... They are big
built cats. Their eyes are either amber, blue or odd eyed.
