"Quality
is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort." John

The Rhodesian
Ridgeback is South Africa’s national dog and was called Lion dog or
Lion hound at an earlier stage. They are courageous, excellent guard dogs and
loyal family pets. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are usually not noisy of
nature. Whenever they bark there will be something that needs to be
investigated. They will not attack unless provoked or in defence of it’s
own and is aloof with strangers. Every stranger you welcome into your home will
be willingly accepted by your dog. This is a pack dog and will become a
pack with his loving human family. They are great family pets and are good
companions to children of all ages.
When I bought my
first Yorkshire Terrier female, Pippa, I convinced my mother to buy a dog she
has always wanted... She grew up with Rhodesian Ridgebacks and we started
searching! Shadikongoro Ounooi joined our family and, to our surprise, loved the
Yorkies! She visited Onderstepoort, Faculty of Veterinary Science and was tested
for Hip & Elbow Dysplasia. (Hip & Elbow Dysplasia tests are required by
KUSA if planning on breeding and registering Rhodesian Ridgebacks.) She
got the "go-ahead" and a while after was mated to Pleasantview Bojelo
of Roodedraai. From this litter we kept Magridel Mama Mia.
Mia was mated to Clachan
Thando of Suedstern. We will be keeping a female from this litter for future
breeding. Ounooi and Pleasantview Bojelo of Roodedraai was mated again and we
plan to keep a female from that litter as well.
