HOW TO HOUSE-TRAIN A PUPPY

House-training, or potty training, takes determination and patience. It’s no use scolding a puppy when you see a puddle on the carpet – he doesn’t understand. When you see your puppy sniffing the floor, pick him up and rush outside, especially after a meal, and after a nap. When he does a wee, praise him. Repeat this every time, and go to the same toilet spot that he used last time. Repetition is the key. There are many helpful videos on YouTube about dog training.

A dog-owner may be facing a charge of culpable homicide because his two Rhodesian Ridgebacks attacked an 82 year old man who died of his injuries.

The attack happened when the dog-owner opened the gate to reverse out. Dogs are very quick to slip out an open gate. Excitement builds up as they see the gate open! The remorseful dog-owner has had the dogs euthanased (put to death). Dogs that attack once, can attack twice.

We cannot imagine how the family of the deceased man feels, nor can we imagine the feelings of the dog-owner.

This is a warning to us all. We must never give our dogs an opportunity to escape from our yard. Dogs should be shut in a secure back yard when the front gate is open. Alternatively they can be shut in the house, but someone else could open the door without realising the front gate is open.

Even small unagressive dogs, and puppies pose a danger to others if they get out. They could run on the road and cause an accident. Motorists have been injured from swerving to avoid animals on the road. Dogs could run away, never to be found, get stolen, be attacked by other dogs, or be run over. Many pets have been run over by their owners in their own driveway because the owner didn't see them in front of the wheels.

So let's make a rule: No Dogs Allowed in Driveway."

BEWARE OF PHISHING SCAMS

Pet scams don't just rob folk of money - they are phishing scams too. If you visit a website such as those on the scam list above, be careful of how much personal information you give to the seller. Personal info can be sold. If there is no cell no, you may have to complete a contact form. This can harvest your name, address, cell, & more. A scammer may ask for your ID number. They can say they will refund money for a crate or something, so they get your banking details. The next thing you know, someone will phone you pretending to be from your bank - they know all about you - your address - everything - and they will ask for your PIN saying there is a problem on your account. They can then withdraw all your money, and open accounts in your name. Never send copies of your ID over the internet. Always be cautious if there is no cell on a website. You MUST to talk to the puppy seller and do a video call in real time.

Scammers may get away with it in this life, but unless they repent, there is a judgement to come. A Bible verse for scammers: "The wicked will be thrown into the lake of fire." Matthew 13, 42
