* NEWS : A case of rabies has occurred in a family dog in Capri, Cape Peninsula. The dog had to be euthanased in case the virus spread to other animals. The virus is spread by an infected animal biting or licking another. Rabies is preventable by a vaccine. It's the law in SA to inoculate one's dogs & cats against rabies.
Have your dogs & cats been inoculated? A bite from a rabid animal can be fatal to other animals and humans. By getting our pets inoculated, we can help to combat rabies. If you're not sure, take the dog & vet's certificate to your nearest vet and ask what inoculations are due. If you have no certificate, go to the vet anyway, for advice.
* NEWS: The SAPS K9 Unit helped to search for people who drowned in the floods in Eastern Cape in June. Well done, dogs! A dog can be trained to sniff and find a body under water. A dog's sense of smell is thousands of times more sensitive than ours. (Keep all food out of reach!)

Scammers' websites pretend to have every breed you could want - and all the puppies are available NOW, and all the same age. That's not possible! Dogs only produce one litter per year. They don't have puppies 365 days a year. The photos are stolen or fake.
If you're buying a puppy, before you pay one cent, you must TALK to the puppy seller and do a video call in real time to see if they really have puppies. You can't tell from photos as they could be stolen off the internet.
Scammers may get away with it in this life, but unless they repent, there is a judgement to come. A Bible verse for scammers:

SOCIALISING YOUR DOG
No one likes a cringing, fearful wimp of a dog. We can teach our dogs to be unafraid of people by acting cheerful and confident when we meet strangers. Our dogs take their cue from us. We are the Pack Leaders. Encourage the dog’s natural curiosity. Let him have time to sniff around when you go to new places. Take him out where he’ll see all sorts of humans and hear all sorts of noises. This is best done in puppyhood, but it’s never too late to learn.

PETS AS THERAPY (PAT)
PAT is an organization of people who take their pets to visit folk in hospitals & institutions. This can help with recovery. Folk miss their pets when institutionalized. Stroking a pet can help relieve tension and it gives a feeling of well-being. Dogs must be obedient, house-trained, calm, and clean. Cats can also apply! PAT exists in a few towns in South Africa, but more volunteers are needed. There are other organisations so do a Google search for therapy dogs if you'd like to help. WORM OF THE MONTH: ROUNDWORM - & A WORM MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE
Young dogs & cats should be dewormed regularly to get rid of roundworms, which infest their small intestine. Worm eggs pass from the body in the dog poo, so it’s important to clean up the poo every day and dispose of it. Puppies and kittens can get worms from their mothers, so if you buy a baby pet, make sure it has been dewormed, and ask your vet about follow-up treatment. A fat puppy with a bulging tummy may look cute, but it could indicate a life-threatening bundle of worms about to block the intestine! Humans can get worms from pets. Roundworm larvae can get through the skin of humans, so don’t go barefoot in the garden if your pet has worms. Why God created worms, we’ll never know in this life. We look upon worms with distaste. To us humans, they are a low form of life. Sometimes we feel low, like a worm. In Psalm 22, 6 we read, “I am a worm, and no man.” Who is this that feels like a worm? Well, it’s a vision that King David had of Christ. He prophesied that Christ would be despised at the time of his death. Read the whole psalm.
